Here at Shire Post Mint we love to create artifacts of fantasy! Our main projects involve making real “coins” from fantasy realms using traditional techniques and vintage equipment! But we also like to eat well and have fun. So the idea popped up to make one of our most popular coins, The Iron Coin of the Faceless Man, in foil covered chocolate!
We first tried this last year around Christmas, when we bought some chocolate coins from a local candy shop and overstruck them with our gold-dragon dies. (created in conjunction with our last Kickstarter, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1717678842/game-of-thrones-westeros-golden-dragon-coins) We sent a few over to George R.R. Martin and he thought it was a great idea, as long as he and his staff could get some! So this year we’re trying to start early enough to get them into people’s hands by the Holidays!
We’ve already created special dies for the 1 1/2″ (4cm) diameter Chocolate Coin of the Faceless Man. We’ve also secured a source for pre-foiled kosher milk-chocolate coin-blanks, in both silver and gold colors. We’re using considerably more pressure than commonly used on chocolate coins, so that the detail is remarkably crisp. We’ve worked out a rigid clear-plastic packaging for a set-of-three that will protect that detail even through the vagaries of holiday shipping.
The first two rewards are each for one set of three chocolate coins, in your choice of silver or gold foil. The final reward is for one set of each color AND the original Iron Coin of the Faceless Man (ninth pressing) now provided on a collector-card viewable from both sides!
This Kickstarter will end the morning after Cyber-Monday (December 2), and we’ll be ready to ship these within a week. In order to get yours delivered as soon as possible we will need a quick response to the fulfillment survey! Shipment will be by US First Class package with tracking.
